Pupil Admissions (including school admission appeals)
Pupil Admissions is a statutory service that supports and advises parents/carers and schools on admission and appeal related processes. We form part of the wider learning service with SENDACT, Education Safeguarding, School Governance and Virtual School. Our main role is to allocate school places but we also support other processes such as school admission appeals, fair access, requests to children to be taught outside of their chronological age group, pupil occasional holidays, term dates and consultations on admission arrangements.Community and voluntary controlled schools do not need to buy back any service from Pupil Admissions. We are your admission authority and carry out all admission and appeal related processed on your school's behalf.
Welcome to the Pupil Admissions Resources page
Pupil Admissions and admission appeals are statutory processes governed by DFE legislation. The School Admissions Code and School Admissions Appeal Code include statutory deadlines and timescales in which we must all operate to ensure children and young people are allocated a preferred school, where possible, and admitted in a timely way. To help colleagues in Schools/Academies be Code compliant we have created our Resources page on which you will find important documents relating to the legislation but also to help explain the processes involved.
